Police identify acid case suspect

    KOTA BARU: Police are on the trail of the suspect who splashed acid on his two friends in Kampung Banggol Pak Esah, Pasir Puteh, on Wednesday.
    "We have identified the suspect and will arrest him soon," Kelantan police chief Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said after the Commandant and Adjutant promotion parade for the volunteer police reserve here today.
    In the 10.15pm incident near a burger stall, the victims Emi Azman, 22, sustained severe burns on his face while his friend Tuan Zulashraf Tuan Yaakob, 14, suffered minor burns on his face, shoulder and thighs.
    Emi is still being treated at the Kubang Kerian Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital while Tuan Zulashraf was discharged from the Tengku Anis Hospital in Pasir Puteh yesterday.
    Meanwhile, Jalaluddin encouraged the Chinese community to join the police force on either a permanent basis or as volunteers.
    During the promotion parade Cheng Boon Chuan was promoted to Superintendent cum Commandant in the volunteer police reserve, while Mohd Ruhaizi Ramli was promoted to Adjutant. – Bernama
