PUTRAJAYA: Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong today expressed his sympathy over the loss of MH370.
“I wish to express my sympathy to the prime minister (Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak), the families of the passengers and crew of MH370, (as) we have also given our assistance in the face of this tragedy (by joining) with the SAR (search and rescue) operations in the South China Sea and the Straits of Malacca.
“I have informed the prime minister that we are always ready to assist Malaysia,” he said to the press after a meeting with Najib at the Prime Minister’s Office in conjunction with the Fifth Malaysia-Singapore Leaders’ Retreat.
Najib, who was present, also thanked Lee for the assistance rendered by the republic as it was among the first in the region to provide assistance.
In a joint statement, the two leaders agreed to explore ways for both parties to work more closely with Asean countries in search and rescue operations in line with the Framework of the Asean Political-Security Community.
