KUALA LUMPUR: Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn Bhd has unveiled the first near field communication (NFC)-enabled printers in Malaysia targeted at small office home office (SOHO) entrepreneurs, small medium enterprises (SME) and enterprises.
The global mobile printing solution market is expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of 53.9% from 2011 till 2015 and exceed US$1 billion (RM3.2 billion) in 2015.
However, the market in Malaysia is in its infancy and Samsung Malaysia Electronics aims to tap into this segment, said business unit partner manager (printing solution) for enterprise business Henry Tang.
"Our whole range of printers is for the SOHO, SME and enterprise businesses but we will also work with third party resellers to make it available at places such as hotels and business centres. We will not rule out possible solutions such as retail, where people can tap, print and pay," he told reporters at the launch of the mobile printing solutions yesterday.
The NFC-enabled colour laser printer and multi-function printers (MFPs) Xpress C410W series allows users to print high quality photos and documents from their smart devices with ease.
The series comprises C410W colour laser printer, the C460W colour laser MFPs with print, copy and scan functionality and the C460FW colour laser MFPs with print, copy, scan and fax capabilities. These three models are able to print up to 18 pages per minute in black and white, and four pages per minute in colour.
Users can print pictures, documents, emails and web content by tapping their smart devices on the printer. They can also sync the contacts on their smart devices with the printers, allowing them to scan and fax documents easily.
Samsung Malaysia Electronics also introduced the MultiXpress series, the A3 multifunction printers that cater to enterprise printing with features such as compact size, advanced controls and ease of operation. The series comprises three models that also support copying and scanning.
The range of NFC-enabled printers will be commercially available from June 2014 onwards. The addition of the newly launched Xpress C410W series brings Samsung Malaysia Electronic's printing solution portfolio to 53 models across its printers, MFPs and copiers that are priced between RM220 and RM35,000.
