Man fined RM800 for possession of bayonet

    KUALA LUMPUR: A shop assistant was fined RM800, in default two months jail when he pleaded guilty to possession of a bayonet last Saturday in the magistrate's court here today.
    Tan Leong Meng, 33, admitted to having the 30-centimetre long knife in his bag at Rimbunanan Raya Kepong, Sentul here at 2.15pm, on April 12. He committed an offence under Section 6 (1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.
    A bayonet is a long sharp knife fastened onto the end of a rifle and used as a weapon in battle.
    Earlier, Ahmad Ridza Mohd Noh who represented Tan, urged magistrate Nur Azura Murah to impose a fine on his client as he had unintentionally carried the bayonet in the bag. – Bernama
