Police dismiss news of racial fight as mere rumour

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Police today dismissed as a rumour news disseminated recently by SMS and over Facebook of a violent racial fight in Klang.
Selangor Police chief Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan said the news was spread with malicious intent and could spark chaos in the country.
"An investigation showed there have been no reports of such an incident. The police have confirmed that there is no evidence and information to support the claim.
"The rumour had it that motorcyclists were prohibited from going to Pandamaran in Klang up to Port Klang, lest they became victims. Such a claim can undermine public order," he told Bernama.
Mohd Shukri advised the people against believing in the rumours disseminated widely over the social media and said they should obtain information from authoritative sources. – Bernama
