KUALA LUMPUR: PETALING JAYA: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Hamzah Zainuddin met relatives of MH370 passengers today to find a solution for the family members to move forward.
Hamzah had previously chaired three other next of kin committee meetings on April 7, 10 and 14. The meetings were attended by representatives from 16
relevant ministries and agencies.
"This morning, my committee had another meeting with the next of kin in Malaysia to try and find a solution for the family members to move forward. As the chair of the next of kin committee, I understand the anguish and pain the families are going through and I give my personal assurance that our committee is keeping the families best interests close to our hearts.
"I can completely understand their need to find answers. However, as I said in the briefing, we are looking for answers ourselves," said Hamzah.
He said the topic of financial assistance was also discussed in the meeting today and that the next of kin will submit a proposal as soon as possible.
"I have promised them that I will bring up this matter in the (next) committee meeting," he added.
Hamzah also said he would be travelling to Beijing soon to ensure bilateral relations between the two countries continue to be strong and unaffected by the MH370 issue.
