Ringgit closes lower against US dollar

    KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit closed lower against the US dollar today on lack of leads due to the Easter Holidays, dealers said.
    At 5pm, the local unit was quoted at 3.2495/2515 against the greenback compared with Friday's 3.2390/2420.
    A dealer said many markets around the world were closed on Friday ahead of Easter and some markets were remained closed on Monday, amid trading activities are likely to be lighter than usual.
    The dealer said the ringgit was lower against a basket of major currencies. The local unit depreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.5950/5970 from 2.5862/5907 on Friday and dipped against the euro to 4.4952/4986 from 4.4753/4804.
    It decreased against the British pound to 5.4662/4709 from 5.4350/4414 previously and eased against the yen to 3.1695/1730 from 3.1622/1657 on Friday. – Bernama
