KUALA LUMPUR: The government will soon announce the list of experts forming the international investigation team on the MH370 incident.
Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said the Cabinet has deliberated and approved the formation of the team, with the Transport Ministry being tasked to draft its terms of reference.
"We are in the process of identifying the members and the accredited representatives and will be recruiting the members for the team in accordance with international standards," he said, adding that his deputy Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi has been tasked with the formation of the team.
Hishammuddin added that the team will include three groups;
An airworthiness group – to look into issues such as maintenance records, structures and systems;
An operational group – to examine flight records, operations and meteorology;
A medical and human factor group – to investigate issues such as psychology, pathology and survival factors.
He added that the initial investigations and early data since the disappearance of MH370 on March 8 will be handed over to the team, pointing out that the initial investigations will be made public later.
"They (the team) will be in a position to make public the findings.
"We are going to make sure that the report will be credible and transparent," Hishammuddin said at a press conference late today evening.
He dismissed claims that the missing aircraft could be in Kandahar, Afghanistan, as quoted by Russian intelligence agencies.
"This is speculation, and I will not answer until this is verified," he said.
