KOTA BARU: PAS will continue with its agenda to implement hudud law in the state and reminded its coalition partners that they had no right to interfere.
Deputy Menteri Besar, Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said Kelantan PAS once again warned Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and DAP that they had no right to prevent the implementation of hudud in the state.
He said the proposal to implement hudud had been passed by the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly in 1993 and again through the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code Enactment (2) 1993.
The proposal was approved 21 years ago and was not associated with the opposition's consensus, he said.
"The consensus of the opposition coalition not to implement hudud was only with regard to the national context."
Mohd Amar said this in response to a statement by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng that the opposition's support for PAS' plan to implement hudud did not arise as the party had never supported the move.
Mohd Amar said hudud, the Islamic penal code, would only affect Muslims and non-Muslims should not be afraid of its implementation. – Bernama
