23 charged with various drug offences at birthday party

    GEORGE TOWN: Twenty-three people were charged in three separate magistrate's courts here today, for allegedly taking drugs during a birthday party at a homestay bungalow in Jalan Masjid Negeri last Sunday.
    They were aged between 18 and 35.
    In the first court, eight men pleaded not guilty to taking methamphetamine and amphetamine at the bungalow between 9am and 11am.
    Magistrate L. Uma Devi allowed them bail of RM2,000 each in one surety and fixed June 26 for mention.
    In the second court, four men and three women claimed trial to taking methamphetamine, amphetamine and ketamine at the said bungalow at the same time and date.
    Magistrate Sri Pracha Nanthini Balabedha allowed each accused bail of RM1,500 in one surety and fixed June 19 for mention.
    In the third court, two men pleaded not guilty while five women and a man pleaded guilty to taking methamphetamine, amphetamine and ketamine at the bungalow at the same time and date.
    Magistrate Dianne Nigrad Nor Azhar allowed each accused bail of RM2,000 in one surety and fixed June 24 for mention. – Bernama
