SERDANG: Two suspected robbers who held up a housewife at her house in Puchong Kinrara early today were nabbed in Serdang just seven hours after they escaped with cash and valuables.
A suspect was wounded when police opened gunfire at him when he tried to ram the car he was driving into them.
The robbers had broken into the house on Jalan BK 4/3E at about 7.45am before rudely awakening the 46-year-old woman who was home alone and asleep at knife-point.
The suspects ransacked the house and escaped with RM2,000, gold jewellery worth RM20,000 and other valuables before escaping from the place.
The suspects who arrived in a stolen Mercedes Benz also drove off the victim's Volkswagen Beetle.
At about 2.30pm, a police team from the district serious crimes division was despatched to nab the suspects. A tip-off on the whereabouts of suspects led the police to Bukit Jalil.
The police managed to spot the suspects who were driving the stolen cars opposite the Vista Komanwel condominiums and during an attempt to arrest them, a suspect in the Volkswagen tried to escape from the scene by ramming into the policemen.
Police fired two gunshots, one which hit a suspect in his right shoulder before apprehending both men.
It is learnt that the police managed to recover the stolen loot before sending the wounded man for treatment at a hospital.
Serdang police chief ACP Abdul Razak Elias said the Mercedes Benz was reported stolen in Taman Tun Dr Ismail on Sunday.
