PETALING JAYA: Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today announced that the Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) would be allocated a 1.2 hectare land to establish its training centre.
The announcement, which was made during his brief speech at MTUC's Labour Day celebration, caught MTUC president Mohd Khalid Atan by surprise and he thanked Khalid for his support.
Also present was executive councillor in charge of education and higher education Dr Halimah Ali, who said her committee will work with the Land and Mines Department to find the suitable piece of land for the training centre.
"This initiative will also allow employees to upgrade their skills through training, and increasing their income. This move will also help to increase the profit of a company by having skilled employees.
"MTUC will prepare the courses' modules once the centre is set up. Selangor is made up of 80% industrial sector, which is also the state's main income," she said.
