GEORGE TOWN: Bukit Gelugor independent candidate Mohd Nabi Bux Abd Sathar claims that Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has never rejected the implementation of hudud in Malaysia.
According to Mohd Nabi, Lim has also tacitly supported the PAS leadership in the implementation of the Islamic Penal Code in Kelantan.
"I am 100% sure Lim sincerely supports hudud," said Mohd Nabi in a press conference at Taman Tun Saardon here today.
Nabi also told reporters that he is ready to face the consequences from PAS for defying orders to not contest in the by-election.
"I have many PAS members who are with me in this fight. In fact four corporate PAS figures, three from Kedah and one from Penang, has given encouragement and support for me to contest in the by-election. I am not afraid to face the consequences," added Nabi who declined to elaborate further on the corporate figures.
Nabi slammed Ramkarpal by stating that his stand on hudud was not important and that he had no rights to talk about it as he is still new in the political arena.
"His duration in the party ( DAP) is also questionable and his view on hudud is not as important as Lim's, who is DAP's secretary-general," added Nabi.
Earlier, Nabi was on his campaign trail to woo voters at Taman Tun Saardon in facing the four-cornered fight.
He also spent some five minutes in his makeshift lorry informing the public of his election manifesto.
In an immediate response, Lim said he had been firm on his stand since the beginning in opposing the hudud law implementation.
"It is no point for me to answer him (Nabi)," he said in a hurry before leaving the state-level Wesak Day celebrations at the Malaysian Buddhist Asosciation (MBA) in Jalan Burma.
