KUALA LUMPUR: The Works Ministry, other relevant ministries, Malaysian Highway Authority and stakeholder have been invited to attend a closed-door meeting to discuss the implementation of the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex) project on June 6.
Works Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof said this today at a press conference after presenting Excellence Service Award medals for his ministry at Kompleks Kerja Raya.
"We do not know what is going to be discussed, but as far as we are concerned, we have given the approval (for Kidex) in principle," Fadillah said.
The concession holder must meet all the preconditions set in the agreement, he added, such as meeting noise levels and engagement with the public on the project.
These conditions are in place to ensure, when the expressway is finally constructed, there is no negative impact to the social and environmental well-being of the public.
A total of 903 staff from various departments in the ministry received medals for meritorious service in 2013.
On May 29, Petaling Jaya Mayor Datin Paduka Alinah Ahmad had said a closed-door meeting with relevant authorities will be held in order to discuss the implementation and impact of Kidex on the residents of Petaling Jaya.
Kidex, estimated to cost RM2.42 billion, will have two lanes in each direction with a skyway over many parts of Petaling Jaya City.
It will start from the North Klang Valley Expressway toll gate near Bandar Utama and end at the Bukit Jalil Highway at Kinrara.
