ATHENS: An undersea earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale hit near the southeastern Aegean island of Karpathos on Wednesday, the Athens Observatory said.
No damage or injuries were reported from the tremor, which occurred 547 kilometres (340 miles) southeast of Athens at 0353 GMT.
Earthquakes occur frequently in Greece. In January, thousands of people were left homeless by a quake on the Ionian island of Cephalonia, in the west of the country. – AFP
