Online visa application, health examination for foreign workers

    KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Immigration Department will enforce health examination in the source country and the online application of visa with reference (VDR) through the Foreign Workers Centralized Management System (FWCMS) beginning this Friday.
    Its director-general, Datuk Aloyah Mamat, said the system was developed to facilitate and expedite the application of foreign workers by employers.
    "The system will help strengthen the regulation and management of foreign workers in Malaysia," she said in a statement here today.
    She said the new system would also two phases, with the first phase to involve Nepal, Sri Lanka and India, while the second phase to involve other countries including Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Laos.
    Aloyah said employers were advised to update a few things, among them the company's information with the Home Ministry's Foreign Worker Management Division and to register the company with the FWCMS portal, submit the VDR application and buy insurance via online. – Bernama
