KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will continue its search for the missing MH370, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak has assured.
“On this 100th day since MH370 went missing, remembering those on-board and their families, Malaysia remains committed to the search effort,” Najib said in his Twitter posting today.
Beijing-bound Flight MH370 with 239 people aboard vanished from radar screens while over the South China Sea, about an hour after taking off from Kuala Lumpur at 12.41am on March 8.
It was to have landed in Beijing at 6.30am on the same day.
MAS group chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said they were making all efforts to find the answer to the disappearance of the flight.
“MAS continue to hope and seek answers that will bring us closer to finding out what happened to MH370,” he said.
He added that it has been the longest and most painful 100 days in the airline’s history.
“We miss our colleagues and friends onboard MH370. We feel the family’s anguish.”
Meanwhile, Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said the loss of MH370 remains a painful void in the hearts of all Malaysians and those around the world.
“We cannot and will not rest until MH370 is found. We cannot and will not abandon the families of the crew and passengers of MH370. We will, with the grace of God, find this missing plane,” he said in a statement today.
Hishammuddin said Malaysia was fortunate as it was not alone in the search and as such, he would like to convey his special thanks to Malaysia’s Tripartite partners – Australia and China – as well as Asean neighbours, the United States and members of the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA).
“More than 14 weeks have passed since the Malaysian government first coordinated the search operations for the missing plane.
“This search effort is unprecedented in sheer scale and complexity involving 26 countries at its peak,” he said.
“As a father, on Father’s Day, I understand the anguish the family members are going through. No words could ease the pain of not knowing what had happened to your loved ones.
“In these trying times, we are united in our prayers, resolute in our faith, especially as the holy month of Ramadan beckons, as we continue to hope against hope in seeking a closure to the darkest chapter in recent global aviation history,” he said.
