Farm worker gets death for drug trafficking

    ALOR SETAR: A dairy farm worker was sentenced to death by the High Court here today after he was found guilty of trafficking 1997.24 grams of cannabis two years ago.
    Judicial Commissioner Datuk Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab passed the sentence after the court ruled that the defence failed to cast reasonable doubt on the prosecution case against Naim Muhammad Zaki, 27.
    The accused committed the offence at a noodle stall, Taman Sejahtera, Lunas, Kulim at 5.15pm on March 14, 2012.
    He was charged under Section 39 B (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 39B (2) of the same Act which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
    Deputy public prosecutor Salim Soib @ Hamid prosecuted while the accused was represented by counsel Muhamad Asri Abdul Hamid. – Bernama
