Moderate earthquake hits Minahassa in Sulawesi

    KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.7 on the Richter scale, hit the Minahassa Peninsula in Sulawesi, Indonesia, at 5.51 am today, the Malaysian Meteorological Department said.
    It said in a statement that the epicentre of the quake was 68km southwest of Gorontalo, Indonesia, and 707km southeast of Semporna, Sabah.
    The authorities did not issue any warning of a tsunami threat, it added. – Bernama
