Subang Jaya residents to get bicycle lane
SUBANG JAYA: Residents here will soon have a 2.4km bicycle lane at Jalan Tujuan, costing about RM520,000, as part of efforts to increase recreational activities.
Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh, who is also Selangor state assembly speaker, told reporters here today that work on the project began on June 9 and is expected to be completed by Aug 31.
The lane, which will be 2.4m wide, will have a two-way traffic flow, with bicycle parking and rest areas.
Yeoh said her office was initially looking into areas here for a bicycle lane and one of the spots identified was Jalan Tujuan.
Since the residents' association of 3/1 and 3/2 had requested for a bicycle lane, she said they had technical meetings with the engineering department of the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) to push for it.
One of the reasons Jalan Tujuan was chosen was the high number of trees, which provided ample cover and also because it connects four schools and a mosque, which would better connect the community, she added.
