Chai sues Harvest Court

PETALING JAYA: Harvest Court Industries Bhd has been sued for defamation by Datuk Eddie Chai Woon Chet over its announcements made to Bursa Malaysia on June 10 and 19, respectively and an article published by The Edge on June 20, 2014.
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, the company said its solicitors on June 30, 2014 received a sealed copy of the writ and a statement of claim, both dated June 24, 2014, from Chai's solicitors. According to the writ and statement of claim, Chai alleged that the announcements had defamed him.
Harvest Court has 14 days from the date of receipt of the writ to enter appearance, failing which Chai will proceed to obtain judgment against the firm without further reference to the firm.
Harvest Court said it is seeking legal advice to resolve and/or defend against the matter.
