KUALA LUMPUR: The intense heat is not stopping Muslims from venturing out to visit the Bazaar Ramadan and also shop for Hari Raya Puasa.
A check by theSun at several Bazaar Ramadan and shopping complexes in Klang Valley showed people, including non-Muslims, thronging the stalls and outlets to shop either for food or clothings and other goods for the forthcoming festive season.
Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and Masjid Jamek were seen bustling with activities despite the scorching sun.
Administrative officer, Siti Zauwiah A. Wahab, 25 when met at Jalan TAR said: "The current hot and dry spell is not going to deter me from shopping for the family. This time around there are so many items on sale and priced reasonably that I cannot resist buying them."
She said this was the best time of the year to shop for household goods, clothings and food items offered at reduced prices.
"I don't see any significant price hike in most of the essential items and it doesn't affect my budget," smiled Siti Zauwiah from Petaling Jaya.
For public university student, Siti Aisyah Nabilah Alias, 22, said the crowded environment at Jalan TAR sometimes benefits customers because prices can drop immensely although she advised people to do a survey of prices for the items they want to buy before buying them.
For example, a baju kurung material which is sold at one outlet for RM200 could only be RM100 in another. "So it's better to do a survey before buying," she added.
Nor Shakila,29, a nurse from Ipoh said she's willing to travel once a year during Ramadan to Kuala Lumpur because she can get to buy everything she wants at an affordable price.
