PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and American Airlines have added 260 new domestic connections in the US to its existing codeshare agreement.
"MAS is pleased to offer our guests more connections across the US through our codeshare partner American Airlines.
Travel seamlessly on our 'MH' code flights on a number of domestic services operated by American Airlines between Los Angeles and New York to major cities like Austin, Dallas, Washington, Orlando, Miami, Chicago, St. Louis and more," MAS group CEO Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said in a statement yesterday.
The two airlines, both members of the oneworld alliance, first signed a codeshare agreement in March 2013.
They had initially agreed on codesharing to five cities in the US. This grew to 16 cities with close to 200 flights per week.
From Aug 1, 11 more cities will be added via Los Angeles and New York.
In addition, MAS will codeshare on American Airlines services to Dallas from Hong Kong and Seoul from July 11 and July 24 respectively.
"We are happy to strengthen our relationship with American Airlines. As one of the world's leading airlines and a major force in the US, MAS is able to confidently offer our guests the same level of service from end-to end," said Ahmad Jauhari.
MAS passengers can fly on American Airlines' trans-Pacific services via Tokyo, Incheon and Hong Kong to Los Angeles, Dallas and Chicago, before proceeding to other cities in the US.
For MAS passengers flying trans-Atlantic, connections on American Airlines from London, Paris and Frankfurt will connect to New York, Dallas, Miami, Chicago and Raleigh Durham, and more domestic destinations from there.
