MUAR: Just like the saying goes: 'He who digs a pit will one day fall into it' a 58-year-old robber was slashed with his own weapon during an attempted robbery at Kampung Tanjung Selabu, Bukit Pasir, here today.
During the 10.30am incident, the robber who had tried to rob Lau Teng Siew, 43, in his house, instead became the victim when he suffered a broken rib after being slashed on his head and both hands.
According to Lau, as soon as he opened the door of his house, he felt a sharp pain when a masked robber slashed him on the head but despite bleeding and feeling dizzy, he managed to grab a chair and started attacking the robber.
"I started hitting him with the chair and was determined to grab the sharp weapon he had in his hands. After a tussle, I managed to grab the sharp object and started slashing him," Lau told reporters at the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Centre in Muar, yesterday.
Lau said his action caught the robber by surprise and the man called out in Chinese, pleading with Lau to stop beating him. -
The commotion attracted neighbours who held him before handing him over to the police. The suspect is also receiving treatment at the same hospital. Muar police chief ACP Azman Ayob when contacted said police were investigating the case. – Bernama
