CHANGLUN: A hunter died after he accidentally shot himself while hunting for wild boars in Laka Selatan Plantation near here yesterday.
Kubang Pasu police chief Supt Abdul Rahim Abdullah said in the 6pm incident, Teragi Anthony, 59, from Pokok Sena was riding a motorcycle while holding his Spanish shotgun in his hand when he accidentally pulled the trigger.
"The bullet hit the left side of his head and the victim died at the scene," he told reporters here today. He said the shotgun belonged to the victim and that the victim had a valid licence to hunt.
The body was taken to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for post mortem. Meanwhile, Teragi's nephew, Jasbistih Anthony, 26, who was accompanying him on the hunting trip, said his uncle was an expert hunter and he had never came home empty handed.
"Prior to the incident, he said he had spotted wild boars on the hilly area in the plantation and asked me to wait on top of a hill, but after a while, I heard a loud bang from his direction.
"I though he must have managed to kill a wild boar, but there was no sign of him. So, I rushed to see him and was shocked to see him smeared in blood on the ground, I immediately called the police," he said. – Bernama
