Scomi in RM5.9b Brazil monorail project

    PETALING JAYA: Scomi Engineering Bhd will participate in and provide the monorail technology for the Line 18 Bronze subway network of Sao Paulo in Brazil worth RM5.9 billion.
    Companhia Do Metro in Sao Paulo has announced that Consorcio ABC Integrado, a consortium comprising of Primav Construcoes e Comercio S/A, Construtora Cowan S.A., Encalso Construcoes Ltda and e Benito Roggio Transportes S/A, have won the competition for the Line 18 Bronze subway network of Sao Paulo sponsored concession.
    It is a public private partnership and the project is divided into two phases: Phase 1 for implementation of infrastructure over 48 months, and, Phase 2 for operations and maintenance services over 21 years.
    "The monorail alignment will be 15.5 km long with 13 stations, a depot, and three interchange terminals," Scomi said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday.
    The company will participate in the project as the rolling stock technology provider, and, supplier of rolling stock and maintenance services.
    It is currently in further negotiations with the consortium.
    The project is expected to contribute to the group's revenue during the financial year ending March 31, 2016.
