Selangor Sultan expresses sadness over MH17 crash

    RAWANG: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah yesterday expressed his sadness over the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 tragedy.
    The sultan said he prayed for Allah to give strength and fortitude to the families of the victims in facing this tragedy.
    Sultan Sharafuddin was speaking at the opening of the Kampung Sungai Serai Mosque, here, tonight.
    Also present were Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and state Islamic Religious Department director Ahmad Zaharin Mohd Saad.
    MH17, carrying 298 people including 15 crew members, crashed in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine while on its way from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur last Thursday, believed to be shot at by a missile.
    At tonight's function at the mosque, the Selangor Sultan also handed out Raya cash contributions to the needy and other eligible recipients before breaking fast with the local residents and guests.
    The Sultan then performed Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih prayers with the congregation. – AFP
