Malaysia wins 53 medals in 18th World Championship of Performing Arts

    SEPANG: Malaysia won 53 medals, 15 of them, gold, in the 18th World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Hollywood, United States, held from July 11 until July 19.
    National Arts and Culture director general Datuk Norliza Rofli said Malaysia participated in three competitions, singing, dance and music.
    "Malaysia won 21 silver and three bronze, aside from 10 Champion of the World awards and four Industry awards," she told a press conference after welcoming home the Malaysian delegation, 'World Stars :Road To Hollywood' at Kuala Lumpur International Airport here today.
    She said the Zeppo Youngsterz Crew secured four gold in the group dance category while Faris Azim, a gold in the solo dance category.
    Rehana Mohd Yunus and Nurul Aina Abd Ghani won five and three gold respectively, while Alif Kadim and Dewi Liana Seriestha, one gold each, in the singing competition, said Norliza.
    "We send representatives to the championship every year because we believe that the country's budding talents should be promoted and developed," she added. – Bernama
