PETALING JAYA: Khazanah Nasional Bhd, Malaysian Airline System Bhd's (MAS) largest shareholder, has come out to deny the possibility of a merger between MAS and AirAsia X Bhd.
"Khazanah wishes to state that media reports of a possible merger between MAS and AirAsia X Bhd are unfounded and speculative," it said in a statement yesterday.
Khazanah, which owns a 69% stake in MAS, has also urged all parties not to speculate on the restructuring of MAS, including potential mergers, delisting and other restructuring options.
"As we have stated previously, a comprehensive review of all restructuring options is being undertaken and evaluated," it said, adding that the resolution of the review will be made after due consideration and approvals from the relevant parties and authorities, including the finance minister.
Khazanah said the outcome will be announced in due course and within the six to 12 months indicated time-frame.
