KUALA LUMPUR: Individuals or organisations wanting to collect donations for humanitarian fund have to obtain permit from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) before doing so, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pix) when contacted by Bernama.
He said legal action would be taken against those caught collecting donations without permit. He said this when asked to comment on syndicates trying to make profits by collecting donations, purportedly for the Palestinians in Gaza.
Meanwhile, crime analyst Kamal Affendi advised the public to not easily believe quarters asking for donations in the street.
"Before making donations, ask them for the permit issued by the police allowing them to collect donations from the people in the street," he added.
He said those wanting to donate for the Palestinian cause should give their contributions to Amal Palestin and the Fund for Gaza. – Bernama
