Seven acres of forest in Puchong on fire
KUALA LUMPUR: Seven acres of forest nearby Jalan Wawasan, Taman Puchong Wawasan near here caught fire at 9.15pm last night.
However, no casualties were reported.
Puchong Fire and Rescue assistant superintendent Muhammad Zaikunor Afendi Muhammad Nordin said they were alerted about the incident at 9.18pm.
He said 26 firemen in four fire engines from the Puchong, Cyber Jaya, Jalan Penchala, Seksyen 7 Petaling Jaya fire stations were rushed to the scene and managed to prevent it from spreading further a short while later.
"Now one fireman is at the scene to put out the embers. The fire is believed to have started by an individual who was burning dry grass.
"The fire went out of control and spread to the forest," he told reporters.
It is said this was the third time a fire broke out at the same location. – Bernama
