Water level at Selangor’s dams continue to drop

    PETALING JAYA: The water level at the seven dams in Selangor is dropping with two below the minimum level of 55%.
    The Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas) website indicated that the Sungai Selangor dam which serves some 7.1 million consumers in Klang Valley is on the verge of reaching the critical level mark with it now at 33.46% while that of Sungai Tinggi dam is at 47.39%.
    As of today, there is only 76.69 million cubic metres of raw water supply left at Sungai Selangor; the critical level is at 30%
    It has dropped 1.68% since Saturday despite intermittent rainfall over the weeks.
    Water level at Batu dam is 82.24%; Klang Gates dam is 70.66%; Sungai Labu water retention pond is 59.57%; Langat dam is 63.26%; Semenyih dam is 77.87% and Sungai Tinggi dam is 47.39%.
    Only Tasik Subang dam recorded an increase in water level with it recording 67.14%, compared to 66.95% on Saturday.
    The Malaysian Meteorological Department on Tuesday had warned that the current hot and dry spell is expected to end on September.
    Meanwhile, the Selangor State Government has advised consumers to be careful with their water usage and not waste water as every drop of water saved will go a long way in continued supply of water.
