Homes of two VIPs broken into

    KUALA LUMPUR: The homes of a businessman, who is a Tan Sri, and a member of the Perak royal family were burgled with losses amounting to hundreds of thousands of ringgit to both victims.
    On Friday, the Tan Sri had left his house on Jalan Setiarasa, Bukit Damansara, with his wife at 8pm to attend a wedding ceremony and found his house ransacked on returning about three hours later.
    Burglars who broke into the house through a bathroom window on the upper floor of the house carted away jewellery and foreign currency amounting to RM150,000.
    At about the same time on Friday at Taman Tun Dr Ismail, a member of the Perak royalty who returned home at 11pm called the police when he spotted two figures moving about in the unlit living room of his house.
    Police said on hearing the victim talking on his cellphone, the burglars fled.
    On checking the house, the victim found three passports belonging to his family members missing.
    The thieves also stole cash, four luxury watches, branded handbags, jewellery and several important documents.
    Although the value of losses were not disclosed, it is believed to amount to hundreds of thousands of ringgit.
    The victim told police that the thieves wore baseball caps and gloves.
    Brickfields police chief ACP Muhammad Azlee Abdullah said police are gathering clues to trace the thieves.
