PETALING JAYA: Ford Malaysia posted its all-time monthly sales record in Malaysia last month when sales jumped 60% to 1,390 compared with a year ago, besting its previous record performance in June.
Sales in July was driven by continuing strong demand for the popular Ranger, Fiesta and Kuga name plates and an expanding Ford showroom in Malaysia.
"This is a great way to kick-off the second half of the year. We know that in addition to prioritising value for money, Malaysian drivers also look for segment-leading safety features and smart technologies.
"With this record sales month, our global Ford vehicles are clearly delivering on these needs," said managing director of Ford Motor Company Malaysia and Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, David Westerman.
July retail sales of the class-defining Ranger pickup soared 115% year-over-year in July to 868 units, its best-ever monthly performance in Malaysia. Year-to-date, Ranger is the second-best-selling pickup truck in Malaysia, with sales up 53% to 4,535 units.
The new Fiesta delivered July retail sales that surged 158% year-over-year to 347 units, boosted by strong demand for Ford's high-performance 1.0L EcoBoost engine.
The stylish all-new Kuga SUV also contributed to the record monthly performance with July sales of 102 units, bringing its year-to-date total to 580 units.
Ford's overall year-to-date sales have now risen 30% to 7,910 units.
"Our momentum this year will be given another boost with the launch of the all-new EcoSport SUV later this month. The addition of another segment-leading global Ford vehicle will also help to continue our successful product-led transformation in Malaysia," said Westerman.
Ford said the all-new EcoSport compact urban SUV will help to define a whole new vehicle segment in Malaysia.
"An aspirational alternative to the compact car, the EcoSport's blend of versatility and smart connectivity will appeal to customers who live their urban lives to the fullest and love exploring the world outside the city," Ford said.
