(Review) Unlucky 13

AS ONE of the Women’s Murder Club series, Unlucky 13 features San Francisco police department Sergeant Lindsay Boxer as the main character while the other women in the club are coroner Claire Washburn, reporter Cindy Thomas, and assistant district attorney Yuki Castellano.
Working together on past cases, these women have formed a deep friendship and share tips and information to catch criminals and further their careers.
This time around, a fatal single car accident gets the attention of Claire who takes a closer look and determines that it might have been a small bomb blast instead.
Lindsay gets the case, but the FBI quickly takes over. Undaunted, she continues to investigate.
Meanwhile, the FBI is on to psychopath Mackie Morales, the one who got away.
Cindy too becomes obsessed with tracking this psychopath down with the help of the police, and to get an interview.
Yuki is planning to marry, but her joy might quickly turn to sorrow.
Once again, there are three plotlines in this book. Despite that, the book is suspenseful. All three stories are also developed well.
Claire is the only character to get short shafted on page time as it’s hard to find much for a coroner to contribute after the autopsy is done. There are also passages written from Cindy’s and Yuki’s point of view.
Nonetheless, readers will enjoy reading Unlucky 13 till the last page.
