NIBONG TEBAL: The same group of participants of the "Nude Sport Games 2014" that was held at the Penang National Park on May 30 had also gone on to take part in a similar event in Pattaya.

According to Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi, the same group of 18 people had also taken part in similar activities at a durian orchard in Balik Pulau before they left for Pattaya, Thailand.

"Preliminary investigations showed that the group, comprising of six Malaysians, three Singaporeans and one each from the Philiphines and Myanmar, had turned a homestay in the orchard into a nude camp the next day when they took part in the naked event in Teluk Bahang," Abdul Rahim said at the press conference here.
He said police have identified that nine from the group participated in a similar event at the orchard "

Of the lot, two participants, a 40-year-old local and a 30-year-old Singaporean, both males, have surrendered themselves to the police.

They were later released on police bail after their statements had been taken at the Southwest district police headquarters on Wednesday.

"We are still looking for the other 11 participants who were involved in the event," Abdul Rahim said while advising the remaining participants to surrender themselves to the police.

Police have classified this case as gestures intended to insult the modesty of a person, and are investigating it under Section 509 of the Penal Code.

If convicted, a nudist is liable for up to five years imprisonment or fine, or both.
