Do’s and don’ts on national day of mourning

KUALA LUMPUR: The Jalur Gemilang has to be flown at half-mast nationwide and all entertainment events have to be shelved on Friday, which has been declared a national day of mourning.
A Prime Minister's Department statement urged all quarters not to wear bright or striking-colour clothing on that day in conjunction with the arrival of the remains of the MH17 victims.
On that day, entertainment programmes on all radio and television channels will be replaced with religious programmes, including reading of the Quran.
"Muslims who are directly involved in receiving the remains (including media staff) are encouraged to wear the songkok (without the white band), while the women are asked to wear a black shawl," it said.
The dress code, set by the department's ceremonial and international conference secretariat, has to be adhered to by all quarters and at all levels, namely the ministries, government departments and agencies, statutory bodies, private companies, radio and television stations and the public.
A ceremony to receive the remains will be held at the Bunga Raya Complex of the KL International Airport.
