SJKT Subramaniya Barathee to be ready Aug 29

GEORGE TOWN: The project to construct a new RM2.7 million building for Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Subramaniya Barathee in Bukit Gambir, near here is completed and will open on Aug 29.
Headmaster D Nathan said the three-storey building, which had nine classes, would accommodate 220 year one to year six pupils.
"We are proud that we will be able to operate from a new and more spacious building soon," he told reporters, here today.
He said the school was set up in 1952 in Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Gelugor and was in a dilapidated state before Yayasan SP Setia contributed a temporary cabin in 2012.
He said the school, put up on land belonging to a cooperative, was among the schools which had turned out excellent pupils in the Primary School Achievement Test.
Earlier, North East District engineer Ibrahim Ahmad handed over the keys to the school to the district education officer, Md Ismail Pawanteh and officially handed over the project. – Bernama
