Businessman spends RM15,000 decorating four cars for Merdeka Day

JOHOR BARU: A businessman has no qualms in spending RM15,000, all in the name of patriotism, to decorate four cars with the Jalur Gemilang and stickers with pictures of leaders to commemorate the 57th Independence Day this year.
M.Kandapan, 54, said his deep love for the country had led him to decorate a Proton Exora, Proton Wira, Perodua Myvi and a Nissan Serena using his own creativity.
"As a Malaysian, I do not mind spending money every year to brighten the celebration. I'm not seeking popularity, this is my passion (decorating cars) and I've been doing it for the past 12 years," he told reporters here today.
He also spent about RM15,000 to decorate his home with the Jalur Gemilang and patriotic stickers.
Kandapan who resides in Bandar Seri Alam, here, said his wife and children encouraged his efforts.
According to Kandapan, he and a friend, M. Sivakumar, 33, nephew, V. Raveen, 22, and son-in-law, M. Gerejavasan, 20, are planning to drive the vehicles in a convoy around the city centre on the eve of Independence Day and on Aug 31. – Bernama
