Noor Rahimmah's siblings await her arrival with anguish

IPOH: In the wake of the Day of National Mourning tomorrow to commemorate the victims of the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 tragedy, Noorlin Mohd Noor and Yang Jamaliah could not contain their grief while waiting for the remains of Noor Rahimmah to be brought home for burial here.
Noorlin, 46, said her sister's remains will be brought to their family home in Kampung Rizab Melayu, Tambun here after the ceremony honouring the victims of the MH17 tragedy at the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport tomorrow.
The youngest of 14 siblings, said the state government had made all the burial arrangements and their family members are only hoping the remains of Noor Rahimmah arrived in perfect condition.
"The remains must be in good condition as informed by the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim). We prayed every time during Ramadan until now, that my sister must be brought back and buried here," she told Bernama at the family home, here yesterday.
Noorlin said her late sister expressed a desire to return home to celebrate Aidilfitri with her family after more than 30 years abroad.
"She wanted so much to celebrate with her siblings in Ipoh, at her mother's house. So we will fulfil her wishes when she arrives here, we will pray at the funeral," she said.
"She wanted to enjoy the local fruits such as rambutan and mangosteen and village culinary delicacies such as sambal and eggplant dishes," he said.
"She was a caring and responsible sister. She's was like a mother to us after mom and dad died. Kak Nyah (Noor Rahimmah) took care of us and she never raised her voice to us even when she was angry," she said.
Meanwhile, Yang Jamaliah, 67, the eldest of the siblings was unable to hold back the tears when talking about her sister.
Noor Rahimah leaves behind two children, Ann Rahimah and Johan who are in their 20s.
Noor Rahimah had served as a secretary at the Malaysian Embassy in Germany and has been a translator in Geneva, Switzerland after getting married to Hypo-Litoner, who is in his 70s. She mastered three foreign languages namely German, French and Spanish.
Noor Rahimmah's burial will take place at their family-owned cemetery in Kampung Masjid Lama, Tambun, she said. – Bernama
