MH17: Funeral prayers for Ariza Ghazalee, son at Petrajaya Jamek Mosque

KUCHING: Funeral prayers were held for MH17 crash victims Ariza Ghazalee, 46, and her eldest child Muhammad Afif Tambi, 19, at the Petrajaya Jamek Mosque before burial at the Semariang Muslim cemetery, here, today.
More than 1,000 people had earlier waited at the mosque grounds for the hearse carrying their remains which arrived at about 3.25pm accompanied by police escorts.
Their coffins were then brought to the front portion of the prayer hall before the chief imam of the mosque, Datuk Joji Suhaili read the Yasin and led the Asar prayers.
Also present at the mosque were Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem, several state cabinet members as well as relatives of the deceased who arrived in a bus.
Joji then led the funeral prayers and recited the doa amid the very solemn atmosphere.
Ariza and her son's remains had arrived at the Royal Malaysian Air Force base here at 2.22pm and then taken to the mosque.
The two were on the ill-fated plane together with Ariza's husband Tambi Jiee, 49, and the couple's three other children, Muhammad Afzal, 17, Marsha Azmeena, 15, and Muhammad Afruz.
MH17, carrying 298 people including 15 crew members is believed to have been shot down by a missile over troubled eastern Ukraine on July 17 while on its way from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. – Bernama
