50,000 attend PM's Aidilfitri open house in Pekan

PEKAN: About 50,000 guests attended the Aidilfitri open house of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak at Taman Tasik Sultan Abu Bakar here, today.
Also at the function were the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah and Tengku Puan Pahang Tengku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.
At this year's open house, 149 food and drink stalls from around Pekan provided numerous Hari Raya food including local delights.
Although the country was in a state of mourning from the MH17 aircraft tragedy, the celebration was still held, albeit moderately, to fulfil the aspiration of the people here to celebrate Hari Raya with their member of parliament.
During the ceremony, Najib also handed contributions to 120 would-be-pilgrims from Pekan.
Najib then officiated the Premier Selawat Tour Series truck which would tour the whole country. – Bernama
