Khalid to hold crucial meeting with Sultan

SHAH ALAM: Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is expected to seek an audience with the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, tomorrow to discuss his position as the mentri besar of Selangor and also the candidate proposed by Pakatan Rakyat.
Disclosing this at the PKR national congress at Stadium Melawati here today, PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli said that Khalid might obtain the Sultan's consent for the dissolution of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly.
"This move will not come as a surprise as Khalid is now independent and has no support from the Selangor state assemblymen, except for the four PAS state executive council members," he said in his closing speech.
Looking at the current scenario, he said that Khalid should relinquish his post to enable a smooth transition of power without involving the people of Selangor as they do not want to be involved in the ongoing political crisis.
Rafizi said that PAS is also expected to hold a meeting tomorrow at 10am to discuss several issues including the official letter to the Sultan on behalf of PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to become the new MB should Khalid resign or dissolve the state assembly.
The other issue is the disciplinary action against the two PAS assemblymen, Hasnul Baharuddin (Morib) and Saari Sungib (Hulu Kelang), who went against the party's directive of supporting Khalid as MB and instead of Wan Azizah.
On the party elections, Rafizi urged those who felt that there was nepotism in the party to come forward and compete with them (Wan Azizah, Nurul Izzah Anwar and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) for any party position.
"Instead of the constant personal attack on Anwar and his family members through the media and social media that there's nepotism in the party, I personally welcome these group of people to come forward and challenge either of them in the next party election," he said.
