Maid suffers scalding from employer

    GEORGE TOWN: A 22-year-old maid suffered burns on her hands, back and neck after her employer was alleged to have thrown hot water at her in a fit of anger.
    The employer was alleged to have attacked the maid after accusing her of not performing her duties properly on Aug 20 at about 4.30pm.
    Initial investigations showed the victim was tied up and not allowed to seek medical treatment for her injuries.
    However, the maid managed to escape the next day when the employer went out and sought the help of a security guard at the apartment in Air Itam. She is currently warded at the Penang Hospital for treatment.
    Northeast district deputy police chief Supt Rahman Ahmad who confirmed the incident said they were informed of the incident by the hospital authorities.
    He said the police were now looking for the employers to assist them in their investigation into the incident which has been classified as intentionally causing hurt.
