PUTRAJAYA: An interactive mobile application on the history of Malaysia's Independence, known as "Citra Merdeka 57" was launched today.
The application, jointly developed by Multimedia Development Corp (MDeC), Universiti Malaysia Kelantan and the National Archives, can be downloaded on all Android devices for free starting today.
"This is the first time the history of independence is presented in the form of mobile application to explain to the public about the history of our country's independence in the simplest way possible," Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek told reporters after launching the application here.
He said the information and contents of the application were capable of being further developed to include the schedules and locations of the Independence Day-related celebrations and events every year.
"For example, for an exhibition on military assets, we may offer the location coordinates and guide the public to get there using public transport," he said.
On the Chow Kit Road Memory event being held in conjunction with this year's Independence Day celebration, Ahmad Shabery said the event was running smoothly and under control.
"All performances will be lined up to match the current situation and the songs will revolve around the solidarity that will enliven the spirit of Independence," he added. – Bernama
