Khalid Samad menaced by a group of men in court complex

KUALA LUMPUR: Shah Alam Member of Parliament (MP) Khalid Samad was today spat on, got spurted with water, insulted and almost slapped by a group of unknown men as he was leaving after paying his bail at the Jalan Duta Court Complex here today.
Khalid and his friends were leaving the Bail Counter on Level B1 of the complex and were walking down the lobby towards the parking lot when the incident occurred at 1pm.
A witness, who insisted anonymity, said a man who was waiting at the lobby with his friends, suddenly approached Khalid before spurting water on his face and tried to slap the MP.
She said the incident caught the MP off-guard and he had to put up his hands to protect himself from being slapped by the man.
The witness said Khalid's friends tried protect the Central PAS Committee as they walked to the parking lot, with the assailants following behind them, shouting: "Kamu ingat Selangor ini kamu punya ke?" (Do you think Selangor is yours?").
The man and his friends fled the scene after Khalid left.
Earlier, Khalid pleaded not guilty to a charge of making seditious statement concerning the executive power of Selangor Islamic Religious Council, last June.
The MP, when contacted, confirmed the incident, saying that it did not cause him any physical injury.
He said he would refer to his lawyer before taking any action on the incident. – Bernama
