More MH17 victims to come home

PUTRAJAYA: The remains of seven more Malaysians and a Dutch national of the MH17 tragedy will be brought home on Sept 2.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the Cabinet was informed of this development today as the remains have been identified in Amsterdam.
"The return of the eight would mean that 32 remains have been identified and brought back to Malaysia so far," he said in a statement.
A total of 24 remains have been brought back to Malaysia since last week.
While 22 of them received full military honours, two more were discreetly received by their families, who avoided media attention.
Muhyiddin said documentation for the remains of the eight is being finalised in Amsterdam.
Full military honours for the eight will be held at Kompleks Bunga Raya in KL International Airport, similar to the first two ceremonies on Aug 22 and 24.
Muhyiddin said more details will be given by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein after chairing the receiving ceremony coordinating committee meeting on Sept 1.
"The government hopes that all parties, including the media, would respect the grief of the (victims') next-of-kin as well as respect their privacy and sensitivities," he said.
He also said that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak is working on ensuring that the team of Malaysian investigators and safety personnel is allowed to return to the crash site in Ukraine to recover the other remains of Malaysians victims.
"In dealing with the tragedy, the government is consistent in its stand to bring the party responsible for downing the plane to justice," he added.
