PETALING JAYA: JCY International Bhd's factories in Kulaijaya have partially resumed operations yesterday morning following workers unrest and a fire incident on August 26.
In a filing with the stock exchange, the hard disk drive manufacturer said there was no major damage to the main building or any of the machines within the factory.
"All of our plants, machineries and stock are covered under industry all-risk insurance," it said, adding that the fire only damaged the extended area of one of the factories where some consumable items and few non-crucial equipment and machines were stationed.
JCY which has since been accused of unfair work practices which led to dissatisfaction among workers, stressed in the statement that fully complies with minimum wage requirement of RM900 per month, and has done so since January 2014 and that their overtime calculations are also in compliance with Malaysian labour law.
