Ahmad Zahid: No support for wars overseas

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia does not endorse or support any wars overseas, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pix).
He said that Malaysia condemns any acts of terrorism in war in other countries and is not involved in any wars similar to those in Iraq and Syria.
"We are not training these terrorists in our country, and Malaysia is not a hub sending terrorists overseas," he added.
Ahmad Zahid also pointed out that the police are looking into reports stating a certain number of Malaysian men were joining in the fight in Syria, and of Malaysian women who are there to 'provide sex' to the fighters
He also reiterated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak's stand that Malaysia does not support the actions of the Islamic State for Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants in Syria and Iraq.
At a press conference after officiating the Security Services Association of Malaysia (PPKKM) Annual General Meeting at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) today, Ahmad Zahid said that the ministry will be setting a ceiling for the number of local security companies in the country to 800 in efforts to reduce competition among them.
"The ministry is being observant about what is going on in the security industry," he said, adding that once the number of companies hits the limit, new licenses will only be issued as and when company licenses are terminated.
He also noted that these security companies should abide to the laws and regulations, including the employment of foreign workers and forming of their own disciplinary committee to take action against employees who go against the law.
There are currently around 778 security companies registered with the PPKKM, with some 200,000 security personnel in their employment.
