SEPANG: The remains of MH17's two pilots and first officer are being brought home tomorrow together with that of another crew member and five passengers.
Of the nine remains, seven are Malaysians and two Dutch nationals.
The remains will be brought home on a Malaysia Airlines commercial flight which is expected to touch down at KL International Airport about 8.30am.
The nine remains are that of two Muslims and rest non-Muslims, including the Dutch nationals.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, in a press conference held at the Bunga Raya Complex, said five of the remains will be in coffins while the rest in urns.
He said the military will be using two EC725 helicopters to transport two remains to Teluk Intan and two to Penang Island, while the rest will be transported via road.
The Bayan Lepas International Airport will receive one of the two remains bound for Penang while the other will head to Taman Skyline near Old Klang Road, the deceased's home, before flying to Bukit Mertajam.
The other two remains being flown by helicopter will head for Teluk Intan in Perak, and will be received by Perak's Sultan Nazrin Shah.
Hishammuddin said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor will be present to receive the remains at the Bunga Raya Complex.
He said the Prime Minister is trying his best to regain access to the crash site to recover the remains of those still not found.
"The Prime Minister is working hard to ensure investigation teams and Malaysian security teams regain access to the crash site in Ukraine to wrap up unfinished duties and to recover the rest of the remains."
He added that the families of the deceased whose remains are being flown back tomorrow have requested for privacy and urged the media to respect their grieving period.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said a total of 32 Malaysians on board MH17 have been identified, with one still in the releasing process in Amsterdam.
Liow said the victims' next of kin will be informed as soon as the remains have been identified and the government will bring the remains home as soon as they are released. instead of accumulating the numbers for a single trip.
"We will not wait for numbers, even if there is only one victim's remain, we will fly it back," he said.
When asked on the investigation update, he said, it is up to Dutch authorities to release a preliminary report.
MH17 was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it was shot down over eastern Ukraine, killing all 298 passengers and crew.
